#9 "Rocky Balboa"

Sometimes you see a movie at just the right time with just the right atmosphere, and all of the combined components work together to create a great experience. This was the case last thursday. Myself and two friends attended the films final theatrical showing the metro area last thursday. As could be expected for a film released to dvd two previous we were the only ones in attendance. The film flowed through us as we cheered our way through the glorious comeback of Rocky Balboa. It was one of the most enjoyable trips to the theater in awhile. When I got home i immediately put my vinyl copy of the Rocky soundtrack on and blasted the theme song. I highly recommend this film.

#8 "Zodiac"

Zodiac is a very interesting story based on the real-life events of the Zodiac Killer in San Francisco, and newspaper writer obsession. If you are a fan of the genre you will likethe film. Be warned however it clocks ina little on the short side of three hours.

Wow. What a film. First I will say that this film had a lot of highly-stylized violence It was pretty cool, but also nothing that you couldn't have seen by watching the trailer. They also came up with some pretty cool looking enemy soldiers. That's about all i can say is good. The film really doesn't have a plot, and plays out more like a video game. You bat some bad guys and move on to the next level where they slightly worse. You beat them, move up a level, and so on. There is very little else to the film. Nothing slightly memorable.

On a final note, this was probably the most homoerotic film I have ever seen. Every one is running around mostly naked with their glistening huge pecs and abs, fighting in their capes and cod pieces. Its really quite amusing. I have since been told that the Spartan army has been historically known for its homosexuality. I can already picture confused frat boys everywhere defending it and saying that i am wrong.

"What! Didn't you see that naked chick."

haha yeah keeping thinking that.

#6 "Sweet Land"

This was a very moving film that I thouroghly enjoyed. Minnesotans will love it all the more as it was made here and takes place here. All though there are a few excentricities of local flavor that undoubtedly will be los t on the non-natives, I don't see any reason why this film couldn't be enjoyed by all. Item of note: don't miss the first ten minutes as I did. It will make the last ten very confusing. I Recommend this film.
